Funeral Party - Radio 2 & Caterpillar
Funeral Party - Radio 2 & Caterpillar
Date
Friday 22 April 2016 -
17:30 to 19:00

To celebrate the 400th anniversary of the death of the most renowned British playwright, Italian national radio broadcaster RAI Radio 2 invites all listeners to share the role that Shakespeare played in each of their lives.

On 22 April 2016, from 5.30 to 7.00pm, you are all invited to take part in RAI Radio 2 Funeral Party: a combination of readings, performances, broadcasts, public recitals, dinners and drinks with a Shakespearian theme. On the eve of the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death, the whole of Italy will turn into one massive stage inviting everyone to play their part, with no limits of time or space. Hamlet will be recited on public transport, sonnets will be read in shops and boutiques, Shakespearian dinners will be organised and the many Italian locations of the Bard’s plays properly celebrated – all on Radio 2 live broadcast.

Throughout the month of April RAI Radio 2 programme Caterpillar will ask its listeners to send in daily #PlayYourPart contributions, sharing their favourite quotes, performances or memories. Because, while some of us have loved as passionately as Romeo and Juliet and others have only gone as far as naming their cat Othello, we have all read, recited or quoted Shakespeare at least once in our lives.
