Privacy notice
The British Council is the data controller of the information that you provide in connection with your participation in the UK/Italy Season 2020. This means that we are responsible for determining how your information is collected and used. The legal basis for collecting your data is specified in the following:
Online events
The British Council uses Zoom to support video and audio communications as part of the UK/IT Season 2020, specifically for our Culture Salons. Personal data of participants registering for an online event will be processed by Zoom in accordance with their privacy policy at https://zoom.us/privacy.
The British Council will record these online events. When a recording is started all attendees will be prompted to accept or decline, with those attendees who decline being automatically removed from the event. Recordings of Culture Salons will be made available to a worldwide audience via British Council websites.
For external guests participation in events that are being recorded is made lawful by our legitimate interest to promote the activities and aims of the British Council. For British Council employees this processing is lawful under their contract of employment. Both guests and British Council employees can leave a meeting that is being recorded.
Marketing
The British Council would like to use the information you provide to send details of further activities as part of the UK/IT Season 2020. Please let us know if you prefer not to receive our communications. You may unsubscribe at any time by following the unsubscribe link in our e-mails, or contact the UK/IT Season 2020 team at UKIT2020@britishcouncil.it. We will process your personal information based on your consent.
Evaluation
The British Council would like to use the information you provide for the purpose of evaluation. We will use your contact details to send you an online survey. We carry this out in our legitimate interest. However, you can choose not to participate by contacting the UK/IT Season 2020 team at UKIT2020@britishcouncil.it.
By taking part in the UK/IT Season 2020, you understand that your information will be shared with our partners:
- for the purposes of administering online events: Zoom, USA, as a data processor
- for the purposes of marketing (only if you express your consent to receiving marketing): Campaign Monitor, USA, as a data processor
Other than for the purposes mentioned herein, your personal data will not be shared outside the British Council without your explicit permission.
In order to achieve the necessary purposes outlined above, your personal information is securely transferred to and/or stored in Italy, the USA, and the United Kingdom.
Data protection
We comply with data protection law in the UK and laws in other countries that meet internationally accepted standards. You have the right to access your personal data, to ask us to correct any inaccuracies in your information or to object to our using your personal data for direct marketing or automated decision making and/or individual profiling.
In some situations, you also have the right to require us to restrict the processing of your personal information, to ask us to securely delete or destroy your personal information (the ‘right to be forgotten’) or the right to data portability. If you have concerns about how we have used your personal information, you also have the right to complain to a privacy regulator. We will keep your information for a period of three years from the time of your Zoom registration. The licensee will be held accountable for managing retention and deletion in line with the business need and in compliance with data protection legislation.
