Italian images of Victorian Britain

In the 19th century, many Italian artists went to Britain for a variety of reasons. Collectively, they produced some fine views of Britain and portraits of the British, which have, however, been largely overlooked. This talk presents the results of forty years’ research into the fame, fortune or failure of these artists and their often unconventional output.
