Generative AI (GenAI) is an artificial intelligence (AI) technology that automatically generates content in response to prompts written in natural-language conversational interfaces.
The main focus in this talk is to explain and navigate through the most practical and pedagogically-grounded ways language teachers can use AI to promote the students agency when interacting with a GenAI tool during the class.
The audience of teachers within the ELT teaching contexts will be invited to reflect upon the possibilities to integrate mobile- friendly GenAI tools to foster communication in English:
- Which are the key aspects that teachers need to understand about the potential of Generative AI that can be applied as an ally to teach a foreign language?
- Which are the major tools and how can teachers integrate them to the different classroom practices?
The need to take a critical approach to everything that it generates and the importance of teacher digital literacy will be addressed as well.
