The XV edition of FOTOGRAFIA – Festival Internazionale di Roma is promoted by Roma Capitale, Assessorato alla Crescita culturale - Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali, organized by Zètema Progetto Cultura, with the artistic direction of Marco Delogu. Co-curator Alessandro Dandini de Sylva.
The exposition, as usual, comprehends internationally renowned photographers and focuses on the state of contemporary photography. This year’s theme is entirely dedicated to the city of Rome and thus the exposition is entitled Roma, il mondo (“Rome, the world”). Rome’s theme has been chosen this year because of the bicentennial anniversary of the publication of the first volume of Goethe’s Italian Journey, and is a demonstration of how the city of Rome is willing to be a central point of international culture trough photography; this year’s Rome Commission was composed of four international photographers: Roger Ballen, Jon Rafman, Simon Roberts and Leo Rubinfien.
Rome is the only city in the world to have a large number of Cultural Academies - a legacy of the “Grand Tour” - which have been collaborating with the festival in the past editions.
